Bloody Wednesday is a very strange "study" of Harry, a man who degenerates from forgetting how to re-assemble a car engine (he's a mechanic by trade) to shooting 35 people in a diner. Despite this films attempt at seriously investigating paranoid schizophrenia, there are many aspects which make this film slightly funnier than it should be. First up is the stunning psychiatrist, Dr Johnson, who despite her reservations about Harry's sanity allows him to stay the night on her sofa at one point in the film. Second is Harry's brother who picks him up from the hospital and arranges for him to stay, illegally, in an empty hotel. Third is the local gang of criminals who decide to pester Harry until he plays a strange version of Russian Roulette with them at which point they become his friends? Fourth is the ghostly bellhop who serves no purpose other than to send Harry on an imaginary treasure hunt and thus fill some of the movie's runtime. However the killer joke in this movie is Harry's talking teddy. This is not supposed to be funny but had me giggling to myself. After that I had problems taking the film seriously. The original intention of a movie which studies one man's descent into madness is not original but should make for an interesting movie. Sadly Bloody Wednesday starts that way but gets lost in the middle and ends up with a bloody massacre in a diner which still defies any logic, even that of the crazy Harry. It is also very hard to distinguish which parts of the movie take place in Harry's imagination and which are real; perhaps this is the point of the film but it seems to be attempting to thump many tubs without making enough noise on any to give the film a meaning. This is not a bad film and certainly worth a one-time viewing.

Even though this movie has gotten plenty of bad reviews, I actually enjoyed it. It had some huge plot holes, bad acting, and it came across as just wierd. If you watch this movie trying to get a laugh, you may not enjoy it, but I personally had fun watching Harry go crazy.

Good enough for a one time view. The story has holes, but this adds to the schizophrenia of the main character. Acting sucks but I didn't expect it to be good anyways. :)

Wonderfully lurid clunker. Any film with a talking teddy gets my vote.

This movie is a small cult classic with a group of people in Bloomsburg, PA. Our favorite scene is the "speech" between the thug and harry in the bar ... "I eat steak every night, costs me 15 bucks! One smack across the mouth with this and you end up with a 4000 buck dentist bill" Hilarious. And the scene with the shrink is awesome..."if ya can't take the heat get outta the kitchen!"

Thank you for the detailed review of the film "Bloody Wednesday. What other films explore mental illness in a similar way to "Bloody Wednesday"? I want to find a film about geometry dash lite and related topics. Do you have a any films?
