This is more comedy than anything else. The "creature" is awful; looks like a pile of seaweed with ping-pong ball eyes. You can see it briefly in the opening credits for "Malcolm in the Middle." Also note -- the "animal-noise" crew member was played by the movie's writer, Robert Wain. He later went on to write "Chinatown!"

The "animal noise" guy was played by Robert Bean, who did not go on to write Chinatown. Robert Towne, credited in the film as Edward Wain, wrote Chinatown. He's the star of this film, playing the clumsy secret agent.

So bad its good - falls in the category of Plan 9 from Outer Space and Attack of the Killer Tomatoes. Just plain fun. My favorite scene is when the divers are going after the treasure - 2 carry spears...and one a plunger....
